2 cups macaroni (or other pasta shape of your choice)
2 1/2 tablespoon butter, divided
1 1/2 tablespoons flour
1 1/2 cups milk
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1/4 cup dried plain unflavored breadcrumbs
Prepare the macaroni, cookng according to the directions on the package. Drain when done.
Melt one tablespoon of butter in a skiller and pour the bread crumbs in to toast. Cook for three minures and stir often until completed toasted.
In another saucepan, melt the remaining 1 1/2 tablespoons of butter over a low heat. After it’s melted, slowly stir in the flour. Stir constandly, cooking for one minute. Slowly add the milk. Stir often, cooking until the sauce is thick.
Remove the sauce pan from the stove when the sauce is think. Then add salt and pepper, along with the cheese. Stir well until the cheese is completely melted and the sauce is smooth.
Pour the cooked macaroni into a large bowl or serving dish. Add the cheese sauce to the prepared macaroni, stirring well to blend it all together. Sprinkle the toasted breadcrumbs all over the top of the macaroni and cheese and it’s ready to serve.
